{Party Starters} Rock Star Party Invitations

I'm skipping my regularly scheduled Cupcake Monday post today to share my Rock Star Party Invites that I designed for my upcoming kids' birthday party. If you're a regular reader, you will know that I was forced (kicking & screaming) by my DH to combine their birthday parties this year. Since they both love playing on their toy guitars, they asked for a Rock Star theme for their party.

My daughter likes pink and my son loves blue, I chose red, grey and black as the perfect rocker colors that I thought would go well with the other two colors for a well balanced color scheme.

This was a pretty ambitious project, aside from the actual insert with the party details, everything was cut out on my Cricut and stamped or embellished with something.  I went a bit overboard on what I wanted the invite to look like, and I'll probably never make anything like this again, but the end result is pretty darn cool - plus it's for my bay-bays!!!!.

There happens to be a lot of pink here and I think it looks more girly, but I will be honest, my son will be four and his only friends are his three little nephews. So, I will make him his own boy-friendly invite to give the boys. My daughter passed out her invites to her classmates today and her non-school friends will receive their invites in the mail this week!

Sorry if my posts have been sporadic or random, but I'm crazy busy with more projects for this party but, I will keep you posted on everything as I go along!

Thanks for stopping by!!!!

PS (If you have a Cricut - I used the Life's a Party cartridge to make the invites and used the Star shape, layer and card on page 33 - the links take you to my Amazon Affiliate page and if purchased, I may receive a commission - thanks!)

{Etsy Shop} NEW PRINTABLES!!!!! Robot Party Collection

I just wanted to share a new printable collection that  I just added to my Etsy shop!

It's a Robot Party Collection and it's just too cute!!!!

The deluxe printable pack comes with everything you need to create a perfectly styled party!

I designed another version of the kit in a Yellow/Teal combination that is more girl friendly - because who says girls don't like Robots???  It still works for boys too - but I loved both color combinations, so I'm adding them each to the shop!

I'm steadily transitioning my current party kits to printables as I continue to update my shop with my Party-to-Go Kits. Feel free to check out the shop and have a look around!

{Party Craft} Yarn Pom Pom Chicks

I created these yarn pom pom chicks for an easy last minute Easter craft.  These baby chicks are a perfect craft activity for kids to do on Easter Sunday after the big egg hunt or while Easter dinner is being prepared.

Make your own chicks using the listed supplies and  following these simple steps:

(I know my hand are in need of a manicure - don't judge me - just make the chicks!)

Since Picnik is shutting down in a few weeks, I thought I'd have a little fun with some photo editing.

Hope you have a great Easter!

{Thursday Inspiration} DIY Gift Wrap

Today, I am sharing my own crafty creation as inspiration to you with this super easy DIY kraft paper gift wrap!

Yesterday, I posted that it was my baby girl's birthday.  After staying up late making a birthday card for her, I was too tired to wrap her present.  So, I brought her gift into work (my job that pays the bills)  to wrap it - except sleep deprived me,  forgot to bring the wrapping paper!

So, what's a crafty mama to do when in a pinch and no time to go to the store?  Sneak into the mail room and snag some supplies!!!  Okay, I didn't sneak, I asked permission, but the former sounds much more exciting, right?!!!  Anyhoo, I grabbed brown kraft paper, 1" round adhesive mailing labels, scissors and tape!

This was so easy to do, took only a few minutes and was quite therapeutic!  I just eyeballed where the labels would go and voila! How about it?  This hip polka dot gift wrap that looks like it came straight from Paper-Source!

I love the way the round labels look against the kraft paper, they're the frosty kind, so it almost gives the gift wrap a painted on effect.

The ribbon was something I already had on hand, so I tied a simple bow to the gift to finish it off.  The card was made using my Cricut.

(I would love to show you the pictures I took of some of the other party items I made with my Cricut for her classroom party, but after my phone was nabbed last week (long story), those pictures are long gone.  I'll be making more party favors for her big party in a few weeks and will share all the details.)

You can use this same technique by applying plain white labels to white kraft paper for a tone on tone effect.  For an embossed look add clear glossy labels to solid color wrapping paper.  If you want to be a bit more trendy, try embellishing plain white or black wrapping paper with neon labels.

There are loads of ways to be creative when packaging gifts. Leave a comment below -I would love to see your ideas or read tips you would like to share. I hope you were inspired today!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY NIKKI!!!

Today, The Mini Diva turns 7!

Time really has gone by sooooo fast! In these few short years I've been so blessed to watch her grow and develop into a little lady. I love how girly she is; she loves to play dress up, digs headbands and lots of hair bows, scarves, frilly things and pink things.  I admire how she finds the best in everyone and everything.  Even when she drives me nuts, deep inside I crack up at her when she dances silly.

Everyday, I'm noticing how she's like me in so many ways (even though I try to deny it)  and sometimes I just look at her and think, 'OUTSTANDING'.  I am so blessed to have this little REMARKABLE child in my life and thank God everyday for her.

We'll celebrate her birthday tonight 'quietly' at home with cake and pizza and later in the month she and her brother will celebrate their birthdays together with a big party with friends and family!

Happy Birthday, Boo-Boo - YOU REALLY ROCK!

Hey.....can you guess what the theme of the party will be????

{Cupcake Monday} Fun Easter Sweets

Today, I thought I'd share a few sweets I have made that are perfect for Easter!

I've been super busy doing Etsy shop stuff and designing fun partyware, that my cupcake end of my business has taken a bit of a back seat, but I think I still have a lot of tricks up my sleeve that I hope to share more of.  In the meantime, check out these 'fancy' confections.

These adorable lamb cupcakes were made using mini cupcakes for the faces and regular cupcakes with lots of marshmallows for the body. One day when my life is less chaotic, I share a step-by-step.

These Easter basket cupcakes were really fun to make.  I created them with Twizzlers, coconut, and jelly beans!!!,

Not my best work - but these are THEE first cupcakes that made me start decorating and baking fun cupcakes!  I made these for a Big Hat Brunch and was convinced by the ladies at the soiree to go forth and conquer!  I've not yet conquered as much as I'd like but I'm doing okay ----and I've definitely improved.  I still want to post a do over on these babies.

I don't do cakes often, but this daffodil inspired lemon cake was the first time I attempted to make a buttercream flower other than a rose!

While, I'm no Cake Boss or Karen Tack I do enjoy creating fun cupcakes and I hope you found a few to inspire you!
