{Fab Friday} Operation Shower Sneak Peek

Hi all!  I wanted to share how I made those adorable sugared marshmallows for my MG Party Impressions St. Patty's Day post, but me and my fat fingers deleted a few of the photos from the tutorial.  So, I thought I'd share a few sneak peek shots I took from the Operation Shower event I was at yesterday!

Let me first say.....it was such a good feeling to be in a room baby filled room....not enough to make me have more...but was a special gift to be a mom and then to also be recognized for your sacrifice of helping keep our country safe, secure and free.  Shout out to all the military families!!!!!

My POMS!!!!

My photog skills are still a work in progress, but here I am with Amy McKee Belle Isle, love her - she is awesome!!!!  Amy is the Chief Event Planner for Operation Shower.

Me and Chris Nease of Celebrations at Home gettin' it in....okay, not really, but it was fun meeting her....she's delightful and just kept me laughing!!!

The beautiful dessert table, laid out by Chris and Katie from Petite Social!  It's super cute, right???

I was assigned the task of blowing up a MILLION ;) balloons for these adorable centerpieces that Amy created. They were super cute and completely genius, if I do say so myself.

Here's another centerpiece that Amy came up with - she's got some great design concepts.....and I learned so much just by watching what she does.

I was so happy to be able to participate in this event and finally get to meet some of my party pals face to face!  I met so many fab ladies at this event and I can't wait to share the rest of the photos with you next week!

{Happy Customers} Little Kicker Football Themed Shower

I love when my customers share their photos of events they've used my printables for!  Leslie West of Leslie P Creations contacted me last fall to help her create custom printables for a football themed baby shower she was planning.

Leslie used the party dots to personalize swirl pops and presented them in a glass dish with brown paper sizzle!  I also love all the little details like the brown satin bows and blinged out toppers.

The card box that Leslie made is just too cute for words!

Here is what Leslie says about the baby shower:

This Football Baby Shower was for a good friend and her husband who are HUGE football fans.  The colors were decided by the Mom-to-Be and with that I knew that Cupcake Wishes & Birthday Dreams would create the perfect printables.

The guests were greeted with a door sign and inside a baby shower banner.
Tissue pom-pom’s were hung from the ceiling.

The dessert table was filled with the Mom-to-Be’s favorite goodies.  I used the printable on the swirly pops and I even decorated a couple with bling and added them to vase.  A baby blanket was added and another banner. My favorite is the football sign on the dessert table.

The favor table was created with something sweet for the guests take as they leave and again.  I also made a card box, which came out nice!

I had a lot of fun creating this baby shower and I couldn’t have done without Keisha from Cupcake Wishes & Birthday Dreams and the fabulous work of the photographer Naomi Waters of Reflective Image Photography.

Thank you, Leslie for the sharing these adorable photos with us!

These Little Kicker Football Baby Shower Printables are now available in my Etsy shop!

{Real Parties} About to Pop Shower with The Petite Soiree

Today I'm sharing a hip and modern baby shower that I recently had the privilege to help with.

I was so honored when Stefanie Nieves of the Petite Soiree asked me to design some graphics for a Trident Gum inspired gender reveal baby shower she was styling.  When she shared her vision of the shower with me and how she wanted everything to look, I instantly had this idea of bubbles, bright colors and things that pop!  As I started designing the graphics, I instantly knew that I was working towards a Pop Art theme.  I came up with a few designs and Stefanie chose the ones she liked best and styled a super cool shower that is perfect for the trendiest of couples!

{Whatever Wednesday} Featured: Humpty Dumpty Inspired Party on Hostess with the Mostess Blog

Earlier this year Cupcake Wishes & Birthday Dreams collaborated with Stefanie Nieves of The Petite Soiree on a Humpty Dumpty inspired party.  I was excited to see that Stefani's party was featured on Hostess with the Mostess today!

I created a fun yarn pom pom garland and handmade hats (can't wait to add these to the shop) especially for the party.

Stefani did such an amazing job and I just love how everything came together.  Please head over to HWTM for more details!

A Little Catching Up to Do

There have been several events that have taken place over the last two months that I just didn't get a chance to share with you!  How dare I!

I must tell you that starting your business and trying to design, plan, conceptualize, visualize and sometimes improvise (and not necessarily in that order) takes you away from other tasks - like my blog writing.  I love writing in my blog and sharing with you guys and sometimes, I just don't get around to everything (like adding more pages for party submissions, party consulting services and pricing that link to my Etsy shop.....eh.).

So, I thought it would be nice to share with you some of the events that I either helped plan, design or baked cupcakes for.....almost forgot that's part of my schtick, huh? LOL  So here-goes!  These are recaps from Halloween, a charity event for a local Washington, DC arts organization and a baby shower.

Over the weekend we had a lil sumthin' sumthin' for the kids for Halloween.......

What a motley crew!

I shared with you the Halloween 2010 Party Printables I made for the party and the blog party I participated in showcasing the printed products.  Well, all those print outs couldn't go to waste, so I used them for the kids' party.  I took a lot of pictures, but unfortunately, the lighting is horrible in our basement and I also had the camera on the wrong setting the entire time and they came out pretty sucky. Here's a collage from the best I got from the bunch:

We had loads of candy on hand!  I decorated the ceiling light fixture with streamers and rosettes and covered the bookcases with painted runners.  To add some height and dimension to a spooky display, I covered our DVD and DVR with black sheets which created a cool visual point of interest.

Another idea I came up with (at the last minute) was to create little Spooky Stations.  So, I created specimen jars - which grossed a lot of people out.  There was also a Witch's Kitchen where the kids could go and add ingredients to make an evil potion of witches brew.  For another activity, and I didn't get pictures of it but wish I really did - we made green slime!  It was a lot of fun, in fact, my daughter still has hers.

About a month ago, I assisted in designing a baby shower for a coworker, I also created a cake for the event.  The theme was 'B is for Boy' and I chose to use browns, blues and creams for the colors.

About two weeks ago, I donated some of my delicious baked sweets to an event to help raise money for a local Washington DC arts education program.  The event was focused on health, fitness and wellness and I was asked to make something healthy - healthy cupcakes????? WHAT THE????  But I did it!  I found a recipe for chocolate vegan cupcakes and added my own spin on it and this is what I came up with:

These are Chocolate Coconut Vegan Cupcakes with the BEST chocolate 'buttercream' frosting you'd ever want to taste!!!!  They're healthy because they are only 115 calories - they are tiny mini cupcakes.....so cute!

I had a lot of fun working on all these events, but it's time to get back to getting things together for Thanksgiving and Xmas - OY Vey!!!!  Check back soon for my holiday party planning tips.

Pink & Brown Baby Shower

One of my good girlfriends recently sent me an invitation to a baby shower for her 2nd child, another little girl. As my gift to her - and an opportunity to finally put my Cricut machine to use - I decided to plaster her home with all my cupcake & party fabulousness! She told me that she was planning on decorating the baby's room in pink and brown, and I went with the same color scheme for the shower decorations.

Along with some other girlfriends, we pooled our talents together to create a memorable shower for a very dear friend.

I am thinking of using this same idea for a girl's birthday party collection - with a twist....stay tuned for more on that!

Here are some photos of the shower:

Delicious Chocolate Cupcakes - they were a hit!

My 'Martha' Poms - I used to make these all the time in grade school - funny how things always make a 360!

The Cricut designed banner

Welcoming door sign

This was supposed to be a yard sign, but we hung it from the mom's new brick mailbox!
