{Whatever Wednesday} PSMIYO Sundry Challenge

Last week I entered the PSMIYO Sundry Challenge where the participants had to take five sundry items found around the house (brown rice, lemons, chocolate, toilet paper and candles) and set up a romantic evening tablescape.  Although I didn't win,  :\ I did have fun setting this 'table' up.  In any case, I wanted to share the photos with you.

There are tons of candles in my house and I wanted to use the lemons to dress them up.  I hot glued dried lemons around a pillar candle, I created a paper rosette and added a glitter heart sticker, another dried lemon slice and a blingy heart for a candle in a jar.  I created the lemon candle holders by hollowing out a lemon and added a tea light candle.  Then placed them on glass candle holders with ribbon.  For a bit of sparkle and bling, I added a glitter heart using double-sided tape and MS Garnet glitter.

The banner was made using letters I cut from patterned paper and attached to a ribbon to create the garland. The topiary centerpieces were re-purposed from my Princess and the Frog parties and to stick to rules of the challenge I added dried lemon rounds to the base.

I had no idea what to do with the toilet paper and eventually came up with roses.  I used Uncle Ben's brown rice to anchor the toilet paper roses and hot glued the buds to stripey straws.  The other boxes, place mats, cut out glitter sentiment were all from my party stash and were dollar finds at Target and The Christmas Tree Shops.

For the chocolate element I placed a Hershey's Chocolate bar wrapped with scrapbook paper, a heart doily, a glitter heart sticker and ribbon on the dinner plate to finish everything off!

Check out the winner's tablescape at PSMIYO - it's really fabulous!

{Superbowl Party 'Recap'} Defeated

Ya know......I really thought we were gonna do it again.....but it didn't happen.....I'm so upset about the Pats losing to the NY Giants.  I talked so much smack....oh well, another one bites the dust.  I really  feel sad.....much like the Superbowl Party centerpiece my kids destroyed before I could ever take pictures of it.....

Defeated.

Because I'm a control freak and tried not to, this year I let my daughter help me with the decorations for the party.  She was too happy to help mommy cut and fold things.  She told me she was very good at cutting and folding.....it was really cute....check out her handiwork!

Here's to me thinking I could really talk my daughter out of  helping me set up for 'the big party'.....Defeated.

I used the free printables that I made for the party and really didn't do much decorating because I was busy working on customer orders and making all of this food......
.....only to get seven phone calls from people saying they wouldn't be able to make it.  Pocketbook Defeated......

We made a yummy chocolate cake too and decorated it with sprinkles and toppings just before the half-time show....but it didn't even make it to the table before it was gone....Defeated.....

Even with that, it actually was a good time to be had by all (remaining seven of us).  Although my Pats did not win, as a native New Yorker (and still a closet fan), I am happy for the Giants!  Good game guys!

On another note, I can't let another day this month go by without recognizing the importance of Black History Month.  I'll add a historical fact about an African-American at the end of each post this month as 'Today in Black History.'  Please check out today's historical fact!

Today in Black History  - The Mayflower of Liberia

The first organized emigration back to Africa begins when 86 free African Americans leave New York Harbor aboard the Mayflower of Liberia. They are bound for the British colony of Sierra Leone, which welcomes free African Americans as well as fugitive slaves. Source (winning!)

{Party Printables} Superbowl XLVI Freebie

There's a lot of activity going on in my house right now, we've got cleaning and prepping going on because we are getting ready for The Big Game (and a ladies night spa party, tonight....more about that next week). But I had a few minutes this morning to work on some FREE Superbowl printables that I wanted to share with you. Since the best team ever is in the Superbowl AGAIN I am very excited about getting this party underway!

I basically used the same design as last year's party and changed the colors and pattern for this year's teams.   The printable set comes with pennant flags, cupcake toppers, food/straw flags, tented food cards, table signs, square centerpiece signs, cupcake wrappers, water bottle wraps, fry/snack boxes

I hope you enjoy the printables and if you don't already know, The New England Patriots will win :) How are you getting ready for the Superbowl???? Who are you cheering for???? Are you just as excited to see Madonna get her groove on at half time as I am???? YAY!!!

{Thursday Inspiration} Valentine's Day Round-Up #1

{I know, I know.... it's Friday, but I had a really rough day yesterday and didn't get to do my post. So, I'm doing it today.}

There are soooo many fabulous Valentine creations and parties by my blogging buddies that I thought a Valentine's Day Round-Up was in order.  I'll  also have a series of round-up posts over the next few days so, be sure to check back often for more. Below are a few of my favorites thus far!

I just gotta love Pia from Cake Pop Fusion. She's participated in one of my bloggerversary giveaways and is a sweet blog buddy. I love the rose cake pop that she created.  It makes a perfect romantic Valentine, don't ya think?

Next up is Jennifer, from Double the Fun Parties with an adorable Sweetheart party that she created with  Kathy, from Tickled Peach Studios.  I can't tell ya what I like best about the party because it's all just so darn cute!

This Valentine's Day Spa Party was created by Christina, from Moodylicious Children's Spa and Christy from Itsy Belle.   What little girl wouldn't love to get her friends together a Valentine's spa day?

This Pixie Stix Valentine is sugary sweet by Emma, from My Creative Time who made this Valentine using craft tools from her own line of fabulous dies and stamp sets.   I love my paper crafts and this one here, is so fun!

A woman who I immensely adore is Miss V!  Vanessa Valencia, from A Fanciful Twist.  I heart her whimsical and enchanted illustrations and artwork and completely fell in love with her when she sent my babies giant marshmallows.  I've even participated in some of her wild parties and she's celebrated my birthday with me!  So, I'd be remiss not to include her in my round-up after seeing these adorable printables she created this year for Valentine's Day.

Valentines 3

If you're looking for more Valentine's Day Inspiration be sure to check back next week for another round-up!
