{Party Re-Cap} Adam's Spiderman/Super Hero Party

This past weekend we celebrated my baby boy's 3rd birthday with just our immediate family.

Since the little mister loves him some Spider-Man, I set out to create a very simple and affordable Spiderman infused Super Hero party.  You know how I feel about character parties.  I was able to create the best of both worlds by using Spider-Man products I found at Tar-Jay's Dollar section a few months back, along with a comic book inspired collection I created for this party.

(Disclaimer....of sorts: I'll share the photos with you below, but I'd like to first say that between me and my mama - there were some serious camera issues.  I've done my best to conceal any flaws with teeny star twinklies all around the edges of the pics.....look here, I don't claim to be an ace photographer, but I know I can take a decent photo - just not this time.  In any case, I pulled out the best of the bunch - ENJOY!)

I created a simple tablescape using a bright bold yellow table cloth and created a runner using a pice of Spider-Man fabric I found at JoAnn's.  The personalized artwork was made on my computer.  I got the idea from the Marvel comics live action movies.  If you ever notice the beginning of their movies shows a quick feed of different comics that blend into the word MARVEL - in this case, I used my son's name, and framed them using Ikea's Tolsby frames that I heart.

I loved the idea of letting the kids be little heroes, so I made masks and individualized a cape for each of them.  They really got a kick out of dressing up in their costumes.

I may have mentioned before that I do not do cookies very well....but I have been so inspired by the cookie creations of Sweet Sugarbelle - that I wanted to try to do some for this party.  They turned out pretty okay and were VERY delicious - Thanks to Betty Crocker.

I have this really cute Cricut cartridge that makes cupcake wrappers and used the Super Hero one to do the wrappers and I added toppers to them from the collection I created.

For the food, we set out HERO sandwiches.  My mom gave me a really good idea. She went to Subway and bought four foot longs, and had them cut into sixths!  They were the perfect size for the kids and there was plenty to go around for the adults! We also had VENGEFUL VEGGIES and a small candy buffet with cupcakes and a Spider-Man topped cake.

This was a very easy and simple party to pull together and I was happy that my little man enjoyed his special day!

Caterpillar, Super Hero & ANOTHER The Princess and The Frog Party Sneak Peek

May is going to be a busy month for me.  So let me apologize in advance if I fall behind with my posts.  Next month, I have three parties to host!  The first party is for my baby boy, who will be two!  He's a little greedy monster and always wants to eat!  So, I am going to do my own take on The Very Hungry Caterpillar and I've planned a caterpillar party for him.  Since he's only two we're going to do a small party for him with just our family and one or two close friends.  I've decided to do some finger painting as an activity, read The Very Hungry Caterpillar and let them go bezerk on the moon bounce and in the back yard.  The food will be hot dogs, popcorn, fruit and cupcakes (of course).

The invites went out earlier this week - here's a sneak peak!

The week after The Caterpillar party is The Superman themed party I told you about.  The invitations were passed out to the birthday boy last week to his classmates.  I got word that everyone is 'super' excited!  Ha-Ha!  I created two invitations for his party - one was a design I made on my own with an adorable super hero kid and then the one below.  Mom thought the one we chose worked best for what the birthday boy would like.  Taking a cue from my blog pal, Monique over at Enchanted Expectations, I used an image from Microsoft clip art's gallery and added the wording for the party and a cute cover and band for the invite.  I think it turned out SUPER (tee-hee)!

Check out the invitations for his party:

Lastly here is another invitation that was sent yesterday for another The Princess and The Frog party that I'm hosting.  It's a jazzed up version of the one I did for The Mini Diva's party earlier this month!  It's posted on deep purple shimmer paper and you can't really see it but the heart is a glitter gel sticker.  SO CUTE!!!!

I can't wait to show you the pictures from all of these parties!!!!  In the meantime, have a great weekend!!!!

Thursday Inspiration: Superman Party

Okay, so I'm hired to do a party and I immediately start to shrink into a small girl, in a blue dress, who just drank some mystical juju when I find out that the birthday boy wants a Superman themed party - and you know, I HATE CHARACTER THEME PARTIES. .  (Why God, Why?????  Didn't I just convince my own child it wasn't necessary to buy a whole kit 'n kaboodle of Princess Tiana party products?  Why now do I have to succumb to the dreaded character themed birthday party AGAIN!!!!)....and scene.

Well, having to do another character party gave me another challenge.  How can I take this theme and make it into something not so....themey.  I am currently doing that with my daughter's party.  I designed a Tianna-like princess for her invitations, purchased a limited amount of character products and kept within the color scheme for the rest of the party.  If I did that for her, I can certainly do it for another child.  So, I searched online, and came up an inspiration board for his party!

I always get excited once my inspiration boards are completed.  It makes me want to get to workin'!  So, I might fuss and grumble at the concept of a character party, but I know that I can still create a unique party for a special birthday boy or girl!
