Follow along as I transform my 'hot mess' of a craft room/workroom into a fabulous space that any crafty diva would love to create in.
8-15-12: This is the condition of my room for the past 8 months.....it's been cleaned up a few times, but I keep messing it all up....it ain't right...so, I'll journal my progress here and hope to inspire a bunch of other messy crafty characters to keep their space immaculately organized....crossing fingers :)
9-6-12 - Sooo, I didn't post an update the last two weeks because 1: I got busy with Back to School projects and events and 2: My iPhone camera housed my Hot Mess of a Craft Room photos and after a random update compliments of Apple, Inc. I was unable to access my photo stream and somehow managed to delete my pictures - yay me! In any case, I ran around and attempted to take new pictures....they look like crap....and not because of the hot mess, but because it was 6 in the morning, I was tired, and was rushing to get the kids ready for school. So, I pulled out a few that I could muster to share and show you my 'progress'.
My first task was to organize a bunch of party favors and small decorative items. I have a garment rack that I kept these items in. Originally everything was packed in boxes or bags a bit randomly. Overall, the items were 'put away', but I felt like I needed more organization. Also, I had bags and bags of other items that I had not stored away with the other items. So, I utilized pink storage bins I had on hand and placed the favors and decorations in them according to the theme. Everything was stacked into the rack and now all I need to do is label each bin. Last Christmas, I made a bunch of wreaths for Christmas and had them in a bag. So, I used the rod that's in the garment rang to hang them up. I'll have to post a photo later to show ya how I did it. It's not cute, but it's got a place, and I'm happy that's they are not in the way.
Here is how the garment rack looks now:
(Okay - so the top needs a bit of prettying up......I never said I was a Martha....we just share the same birthday)
After organizing the rack, I did make attempts at cleaning up my paper station. It's almost there, but I definitely need some shelving and those USPS Priority Mail shipping boxes ain't cuttin' it.
This is one of my work tables, I use it mostly for my dessert/candy buffets/displays, etc. When I am not using it for a party, it's usually a table I use for crafting or where my finished products go when I am completing orders. The day I took this picture, was after my mom left and most of the items on the table were in the guest room....on the bed....and I couldn't let my mama sleep on the floor, so everything got put on the table. What a mess! LOL
This is where the magic happens!

Here is where I generally do my work. I keep most of my tools here and it always looks like this - and I'm not sure it will ever look neat. But, in my head, it's very organized. I'm thinking for the purpose of this whole messy craft room makeover, I will come up with a way to make it pretty.....just for show n' tell!
That's all for now....can't wait to share more updates and progress with ya!
