{Cupcake Monday} Happy Birthday Maurice Sendak & FREE DOWNLOAD

If you've been reading me little blog for a while you're well aware of my fondness for Maurice Sendak and his book, Where the Wild Things Are  - it's my FAVE story forevs.  That being said, we lost our beloved Mr. Sendak last year; he would have been 85 today.

To celebrate his life and gift to us, I'm doing a throwback of the Where the Wild Things Are inspired cupcakes that I made for my kids' WTWTA Halloween party a few years ago.  (I swear, there is something deep down inside of me that wants to do this theme over again.....hmmmm????)

(My Original Sketch for the cupcakes - I got mad skills yo!)

I love looking back at some of my old work - it makes me laugh - notice how my cupcakes are sweating...didn't know then that when frozen cupcakes thaw they actually sweat.  Whatevs...they turned out super cute and tasted delish!

Here's a lil' secret.....I've sorta been working on a WTWTA printable set for some time....but still not sure if it's something I really want to go forward with, for various reasons.  Since I can't reach a conclusion, I though the least I could do was share a tiny bit of it.  So, here's a wall sign from my designs for FREE DOWNLOAD.

While you're waiting on that download check out some of my fave Sendak moments, go to's and tales!

You have to check out today's cool Google doodle honoring Maurice Sendak!

Do you love Maurice Sendak as much as I do?  Have a favorite book by the author or have you thrown your own Where the Wild Things Are bash?  Share with us and leave a comment below!

TOP 25 PARTY PLANNING MOMS - HEARTFELT THANKS!!!!! WE DID IT!

EXCITING NEWS!  WE DID IT AGAIN!!!!

Cupcake Wishes & Birthday Dreams has made the Top 25 Party Planning Moms list with Circle of Moms.  YAY! Thanks to everyone who took time to vote....it really means a lot to me.

I don't share too much of my personal life here on the blog, but this has been a crazy year for me and my family.  I'm just thankful that I still have the energy left to do what I love most.  I started this blog because I was encouraged by friends to share my creativity and start a business showcasing my 'talent' for decorating cupcakes and throwing over the top (but budget friendly) children's parties.

While I don't keep up much on the cupcake end of things lately (hoping to get back to that), I have been able to keep my Etsy shop running, write for this and two other blogs, maintain a fabulous network of par-tay friends through a FB group, as well as,  Pin, Tweet and Instagram my way through life.....and more than anything I still get to be a mom to the cutest & craziest little kids ever and wife to one strong and brave man.....all the while, working a full-time job (the ones that pays the bills).

I am not tooting my own horn here.....okay, maybe a tiny bit.....but I sacrifice a lot and do a lot of party work....people always ask me....where do you get the time and energy?  Do you ever sleep?  How do you do it?  The answer is simply by the grace of God.  Thankfully, I have a lot of family and friends supporting me, a great group of party friends encouraging me, readers who keep coming back and the dream of something more pushing me forward.

Some might look at my making the list as a small thing, but to me, it's sorta a big deal.  So, again, I say THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU to you all, thanks for reading, visiting, liking, retweeting, pinning and following!

{Pin-tastic Tuesday} 7 Awesome & Easy End of the Year Teacher's Gifts

WE DID IT!!!!  We made it through another year unscathed and with our wits in tact - well at least most of us have.  It's the end of the school year, and I must say that I am SO GLAD THIS YEAR IS OVER.  I can imagine that our teachers are just as equally glad this year is coming to a close.  That's why I'm sharing 7 Awesome End of the Year Teacher's Gifts to show a lil' appreciation for all that they do.

Teachers spend a lot of money for supplies out of their pockets, they are quite underpaid, so what a thought ful way to 'pay back' what they put in than with a balloon filled with money I am crushing on this idea by Sugar and Charm and the confetti makes it extra special!

These filled drink dispensers are GENIUS!  It's like a summer break in a bucket!

Love how Mom of Six Personalized a canning jar with the teacher's monogram and fill it with pencils - gotta love this idea fo' sho'!

This fortune cookie idea by the ladies of Eighteen 25 is a really cute idea!  It's a perfect way to say thanks!

A box of teacher's goodies stocked up with necessities and bits of chocolate is an awesome way to say thanks....and we all know how chocolate can set everything right!

I love this idea of giving teach a nice breakfast treat - and this adorable printable bag idea by Confetti Sunshine is the bomb.com dontchathink?

Not one to rule my own creativity out - last year we presented the Mini Diva's teacher with a post it note holder!  We made a card for her and placed everything in a decorated paper bag.....I got all crafty with it - tee-hee!
